Résumé
Calculus is one of the milestones of human thought. Every well-educated person should be acquainted with the basic ideas of the subject. As our world has become more quantified and technological, knowledge of calculus has become essential to a broader cross-section of the population.
This Debut Edition of Calculus by Brian E. Blank and Steven G. Krantz, both of Washington University in St. Louis, is published in two volumes, Single Variable and Multivariable. These respected authors bring together time tested as well as innovative pedagogy and exposition in this book, focusing on today's best practices in calculus teaching.
The hallmarks of this new text are:
- Clear writing and crisp, clean motivation for key topics
- Useful and fascinating applications on a range of subjects to appeal to students in all majors
- Complete exercise sets with three categories of problems-Problems for Practice; Further Theory and Practice; and Calculator/Computer Exercises
- Genesis & Development sections, which provide history and perspective on the evolution of calculus
- Computer modeling and numerical calculations throughout the text and in the exercise sets
Calculus is supplemented by the following:
- Instructor Resources, Single Variable and Multivariable
- Instructor Solutions Manuals, Single Variable and Multivariable
- Computerized test bank, Single Variable and Multivariable
- Web resources at www.keycollege.com/online accessed by students with a unique access code packaged in new texts
- WebCT course management system
- Student Study and Solutions Companions, Single Variable (1-931914-71-0) and Multivariable(1-931914-72-9)
